Scoutrees 2016 – Acton Quarry
Who: Beaver, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers, Rovers, Leaders, Parents and siblings
When: Saturday April 30, 2016 – 8:30am to 11am – Rain or Shine (Last year 99% of planting was done by 10:00am)
What: This year the Credit Hills Area will be planting about 4000 trees at the Dufferin Quarry in Acton. Dufferin Aggregates has been a highly respected partner with Scoutrees and Scouting in this area for many years now. They provide the trees and the site so that a significant environmental project can take place that benefits both Scouting and Dufferin Aggregates. In addition to the positive results of tree planting, Scouting also uses this as a fundraiser. Each Group keeps 85% of the funds raised, while 15% goes to the Canadian Scout Brotherhood Fund. This will be the 44th year that Scouting has planted trees in this area.
Crests: Each participating youth will earn a 2016 Scoutrees Crest from their group.
Bring: A shovel & a pail. Uniform is shirt and neckers only, wear comfortable shoes or hiking boots, it could be muddy.
Lunch: Dufferin Aggregates will provide a BBQ, between 10:00 am and 11:00 am Bring your appetite!
Where: Dufferin Quarry south of Acton. The quarry entrance is at 12791 3rd line Halton Hills (south of Acton) main office gates , between Limehouse and Hwy. #25. Further directions for parking and registration will be just inside the quarry gates.
