Important Changes to PRC Process – Peel Regional Police

There have been some recent changes to the PRC process for those using Peel Regional Police (residents of Brampton/Mississauga).  Changes – PRC effective January 1 2018 – Update

Note that there is no change to the process for Caledon residents using OPP.

For NEW volunteers and volunteers not using the myBackCheck service

You will need to appear in person with the following documents:

  1. A printed, signed copy of the Scouts Canada COSC Agency and Volunteer Authorization Letter  (Authorization Letter 2018)
  2. A completed, signed copy of the Police Vulnerable Sector Check document (parts A, B, and C to be completed) (available via )

** As of January 1, 2018, Peel Regional Police are no longer providing this service at no charge – a $33.00 fee will be charged for the PRC process.  Some Scout Groups may opt to reimburse volunteers for all or part of the cost – please check with your Group for details.

For RETURNING volunteers (with current/valid PRC)

** Only members of Scouts Canada who already have a valid police check may use this process.

Since the initial PRC screening includes a Vulnerable Sector Search (VSS), volunteers can opt to use the service to renew their PRC, provided that the most recent PRC has not lapsed.  The screening is usually done within 24 hours and your MyScouts profile will be updated once the information has been transmitted to the Central Ontario Service Centre office.
