Code of Conduct

Scouters,

Just a reminder that Scouts Canada’s new Code of Conduct has been released. Please remind your teams that to maintain their membership they will be required to sign the Code of Conduct.

To do so simply click on the link in the e-mail sent to them by Scouts Canada. The code will appear for their review and they can then either accept or decline the Code. Alternately, they can log into myscouts.ca and sign the code or contact your Group Commissioner or Group Registrar.

The signing of the Code of Conduct was recently moved from September to the new year in order to reduce the workload of Scouters during the busy fall registration period.

Thank you in advance for taking steps to a smooth transition for Code of Conduct renewals, and to ensure that we remain ready to deliver great, safe Scouting adventures to Scouting youth. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to send them through the Help Centre, where they will be directed to someone who can help.

Burlington Area Canoe Camp – April 2, June 3-5, 2016

paddling

One of Burlington Area’s most eagerly anticipated events is fast approaching. The annual Area Canoe Camp, to be held this year from June 3rd to 5th at Camp Wheeler near Haliburton, is an opportunity for Scouts to learn valuable canoe skills in a controlled environment, and from experienced instructors. One of the overall objectives of this event is to cover off the requirements for the Paddling Challenge badge, and to gain competencies for the Paddling Outdoor Adventure Skills. And, of course, it’s a ton of fun!

The camp will also include an overnight out trip for Scouts working on the Advanced Tripping badge or higher Stages of the Paddling OAS, and an Island overnight for Scouts wanting to learn lightweight camping skills.

Prior to attending the camp at Wheeler, all Scouts will be required to attend a mandatory Skills session and Pizza party, to be held at a Burlington public swimming pool. This has been scheduled for April 2nd from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at Aldershot Community Pool.

Cost for the event will be $95 per person, food, canoes and accommodation included. Registration deadline is March 27th at 8:00pm.

For further information contact Scouter Bill Kowalchyk at Bill.Kowalchyk@scouts.ca or 905-520-9517.
