Upcoming Wood Badge Part II

Shining Waters Council is hosting a mulit-section Wood Badge Part II course this fall.

All Sections: Colony, Pack, Troop, Company and Crew (yes if we get enough registrations … WB2 training for Rover Advisors will be offered!)

Dates: October 1-3 and November 5-7, 2010

Registration Deadline: September 17, 2010

Fee: $210.00

Location: Blue Springs Scout Reserve, Acton ON

The kids had a GREAT time, and most didn’t notice the weather, rain, wind, or snow! Over 200 (including staff & volunteers) made it out for at least part of the day.

Congrats to Diane & Sandra for putting together what looks to be an outstanding event coming up May 8th. With 140 youth, 40 vleaders, 40 parent volunteers, and 15 staff this will be one of the largest Beaverees in Wellington in several years. Camp Barber just might be a tad packed that day!

Call for Action – HAITI RELIEF

To All Scouts Canada Members

Scouts Canada is calling on all of you to take action to assist the people and Scouts of Haiti during this unprecedented time of crisis.

Please read the attached letter ( -HERE- ) from the Chief Commissioner and International Commissioner and EC/CEO which includes instructions should you wish to make a donation to this cause. Given the rapid acceleration and overwhelming nature of this disaster, groups may feel free to canvas for donations (in uniform) to support the Red Cross Relief Fund.

Please accept my thanks for your support in this very urgent and worthy cause. I am certain all Scouts will rise to this call for action and do all Canadians proud.

Dear Colony Scouter:

Are you ready for some Beaver Magic???

When: March 19,20-21. 2010

Where: At Barber Scout Camp, just southeast of Guelph. Registration will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday and the workshop will finish Saturday at 4:00 p.m.

Who: This workshop is designed for Colony Scouters who would like to pick up some new ideas, share experiences and rekindle the Scouting spirit.

What: Topics to be covered during the workshop will include: Keeo and the Cub Link, Outdoors, Scouting for Youth with Disabilities, Resources, Games, Songs, Tails, Shared Leadership, Planning, Beaver Camping and Area Concerns.

Cost: The cost for this workshop (Friday evening to Saturday afternoon) will be $35.00 for registrations received by March 1st and $42.00 for registrations received afterwards.

Santa Claus Parade in Guelph – all welcome!

The 31st Guelph is entering a float (Hay Wagon) themed “Scouting with Snoopy”, consisting of a dog house, Charlie Brown Christmas tree and Snoopy riding in a canoe. We are getting most of the youth to wear yellow t-shirts over their jackets to represent Woodstock.

We will be putting the float together Friday November 13th, 7 pm at 355 Elmira Rd Unit 136 (Go around the back of the building) if anyone is interested in helping.

Any group that is interested in walking (some room for riding) is welcome to join us. Please bring flags/banners to add flare to the walk. I will forward where and what time we are gathering before the parade. [The 29^th Guelph has joined in already – let’s get a HUGE participation from Wellington this year, to showcase Scouting Fun!! ]

Remembrance Day Parade in Wellington

Open invitation to all Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers, Rovers & leaders that would like to participate in the Remembrance Day parade. Everyone is welcome to join us, as we mark this annual event together.

The parade starts from the new City Hall this year, as there is construction around the Armories.

Please arrive at 9:15 am, in full uniform at the new City Hall front doors. Blue pants preferred, but jeans are okay, so long as the jeans have no holes.

Please bring your section flags, if you have them.

The parade will march to Sleeman Centre for the ceremony inside, and then please regroup behind Sleeman Centre to reform the parade in the laneway. Then the parade marches on Woolwich towards the Cenetaph to salute.
