Camp Everton and CCJ Work (fun) Weekend

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

Think it’s hot. Looking for something to do this weekend so you can ignore the heat?  CCJ is only 2 1/2 weeks away, and need your help badly, as does the Everton Camp Committtee. If you’re even slightly handy, have time from Fri night through Sun (hey, you don’t have to show up for the whole thing, any time you have is good for us), we can sure use your help.  We’re building, repairing, and cleaning.  (Free) camping is available if you’re working, just be self contained and bring your own food and drink (pretty important on a warm day!).  Bring your own hammer if you would.  I’m sure Sat night will be pretty social, fun is where you find it! Questions? Just reply to the blog post.  For Everton info, click -HERE-.

Brampton Area melded into Greater Halton and Yellow Briar Areas

Monday, June 28th, 2010

This past week Council Commissioner Tony Copperthwaite announced that, after consultation with the entire Council, and Council Management Committee, Brampton Area would be merged with Greater Halton (those west of Hiway 410),and Yellow Briar (those east of Hiway 410) effective immediately.  Jenny Beer remains Area Commissioner of Yellow Briar.  Tim Sturgeon (former Brampton AC) will take over the new merged Greater Halton Area. Thanks to Deborah MacPherson who has held the position of Greater Halton Area Commissioner for the past 5 years, who was due to retire this summer.  Both Area Commissioners will be working to upgrade their teams with members from their new Groups, and to ensure that the Areas continue their path to growth.

Click -HERE- for the presentation outlining and summarizing the decision and the reasons for it (please be patient and wait for the slides to load).  This was presented on Mon Jun 21st in Brampton, Tue the 22nd in Greater Halton, and Wed the 23rd in Yellow Briar.

Need an axe?

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

Thanks to Denny’s us Lines of Acton for the donation of 28 fire axes (from their school buses due to a change in Ministry regulations).  While 6 have already been spoken for, my math says there are 22 more.  They’re larger than a hatchet, but smaller than a full-size axe.  Thanks Denny’s, it’s sincerely appreciated!  Contact Pete Gamblin at 519-822-7229 or pergam@sympatico.ca if you need one.  Only Scout Groups, any Section, need apply :-) !
