For me, the week was a success when the first kid, moving at high-speed, said “The Dragon Dancers were awesome, got to go”, and yup, she was gone.

This campaign is easy.

1. Do a good turn
2. Pass on your wrist band to the person you do the good turn for.
3. As the person to “pass it on” – do a good turn and pass on the wrist band, and keep it going.

Every member doing a good turn means that 100,000 good turns will be passed on. If every person who receives a wrist band does a good turn, we’ll have 200,000 good turns. Of course, if every wrist band got passed on 5 times, we’d be at 500,000 good turns. That would sure get some notice.

Wrist bands will be distributed to Groups through the Area Commissioner.

We have also added a line that Group Commissioners, Group Registrars, Area Commissioners, Area Registrars and Council Field Executives can now verify the ID on the ID Verification Form before it is returned to our office for processing. This will meet the legal requirements.

In the weeks leading up to and following Earth Day (April 22, 2010), we challenge your section or group to organize a local clean-up project. We encourage you to focus your clean-up near a river, lake, or other waterway. We ask that clean-up projects take place between April 1 and May 21, 2010. Disney will provide garbage bags and gloves for your clean-up, and this will be coordinated with the Disney Store in your area. Participants in registered clean-up projects will be eligible for prize draws from Disney, including passes to the new Disney movie, Oceans, that will be released on Earth Day.

Following completion of your clean-up, please e-mail photos to mjames@scouts.ca. Please submit your project registration form (attached) by Friday, February 5, 2010, to Melissa James – e-mail to mjames@scouts.ca or fax to 709.364.1639.

MyBackCheck will send you a message to complete an ID Verification Form (that they will send you). You are required to complete Section #2, sign and forward to this office (Fax: 416-490-6911) together with copies of two pieces of government-issued photo identification. We will complete the rest of the form and forward it to MyBackCheck. Acceptable photo ID is: Driver’s License, Passport, Foreign Driver’s License, Canadian Citizenship Card, Canadian Permanent Resident Card, Certificate of Indian Status, International Student Identity Card, Firearms Acquisition Certificate, Canadian National Institute of the Blind Identification Card, Military Family Identification Card. A Health Card is NOT acceptable. If you do not have a second piece of photo ID a birth certificate is acceptable.

A  process sheet will be posted to the COAC Registration website on Monday. Once the COAC receives the “Service Order Form” staff  will complete the appropriate part of the form and fax it to MyBackCheck. This satisfies the requirement of the RCMP.
At the current time individuals are only able to complete the Criminal Record Check but once the concerns of the RCMP have been met and they are again able to complete the vulnerable sector screening (which we anticipate within 2 weeks) they will go back, at no charge, and complete the vulnerable sector screening. In the meantime, we will accept the Criminal Record Check.
