Some information about the 14th World Scout Moot has been sent out. You can read the email HERE

The details are:

Camp Awacamenj Mino (near Ottawa, National Capital Region)
August 8-18, 2013
For Rover Scouts between 18-25 years of age
Scouter Doug Proud is coordinating Scouts Canada’s participation and can be reached for more information at moot2013@scouts.ca.
Scouter Alex Gazaleh is Scouts Canada’s representative to the Organizing Committee of the Moot. He can be reached for information related to the planning of this event at scouteralex@gmail.com.

Rover Registrations for 2012/13 Scouting Year

Dylan Reinhart, National Youth Commissioner, sent an email sent to all Rovers regarding registration for the upcoming Scouting Year (you can find a copy HERE)

He also blogged about it, and you can read it HERE.

In the email, it outlines that”In the 2012-2013 Scouting year all members of Scouts Canada who are 18 and over, including Rover Scouts, will be required to submit a Police Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Screening, undergo a screening interview and provide three references.”

Please note that in some areas, PRCs can take 12-16 weeks if you need to be fingerprinted (because your name or birth date matches someone with a record) It’s better not to wait until September.

New Hamburg Scouts thanks Legion for 52 years of sponsorship

The 1st New Hamburg Scouting Group have honoured The Royal Canadian Legion #532 in New Hamburg for over 50 years (52), as our Sponsors. The presentation was held April 26, 2012.

A presentation of copies of letters The Board of Trade, our former sponsors, and from the Legion, were presented to Bob Anger, president of the Legion. Later the plaque, which is one of a kind in black & white with coloured logo’s, was presented to the Legion. Bob informed us that it would have a special home in a glass case at our #532 Branch.

The Legion Sponsorship began on Oct. 3rd, 1959 and documents signed by former member, Alfred Richards (President) and Jack Riehl (Secretary). The former sponsors, The Board of Trade, was signed off by Howard Roth (President) and L.R. Roth (Secretary).

The Baden Outlook newspaper was present for some pictures and information was given to the New Hamburg Independent along with pictures I took. I was an Akela in our Group at the time and remember this milestone in our Scouting Community. I am very pleased to be able to present such an honour to a great organization as we have in our community.

All sections of 30th Kitchener met at a local park to have the yearly boardwalk hike and advancement ceremonies including Scouters 5 and cake. A large rainbow came out during closing.

Eric McCraney Appointed as Camp Barber Manager-Volunteer and Chair

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Eric McCraney as Manager-Volunteer and Chair of Camp Barber, effective immediately. Eric is currently a Cub Scout Leader with 6th Guelph “A” pack. Eric’s primary focus will be to manage the operations of Camp Barber and lead the Camp Committee to make recommendations and assist in the implementation of program activities in support of camp users in the provision of Scouting programs to their members.

Blue Springs, Burlington Scouting Recognized for it’s Commitment to the Environment

Conservation Halton and Halton Region joined forces with Burlington Area Scouts in celebration of Earth Day and Arbor Day. Blue Springs, is of course fully committed to being environmentally responsible with its’ waste management.
