Valeriote to become Honorary Scout

Frank Valeriote, MP to start Kub Kar races following his investiture as an Honorary Scout 

GUELPH, ON—Frank Valeriote, MP will be welcomed into the Wellington Area family of Scouting after being invested as an Honorary Scout on February 25, 2012.  Following the investiture, Mr. Valeriote will have the honour of starting the first Kub Kar race of the day.

Leading the investiture will be Area Youth Commissioner Rob Monico, assisted by Harry Niezen Area Commissioner and two local Cub Scouts.   Also in attendance will be youth and leaders from each of the five sections of Scouts Canada.

The ceremony, which begins at 1:00 pm on Saturday, precedes the annual Scout Week Kub Kar races which take place this year at Stone Road Mall on Saturday February 25 at 1:00pm.

All Beavers, Cubs and Scouts will be racing their handmade racing vehicles on the race track starting with Scout Trucks on Friday night at 7:00pm and continuing with Beaver Buggies on Saturday at 11:00am and Kub Kars at 1:00pm Saturday. All are welcome to join in on the fun.

Scouts Canada, the country’s leading youth organization, offers fun and exciting outdoor adventure for boys, girls and youth ages 5 – 26 in communities across Canada. In the Wellington Area, which includes Guelph, Fergus, Rockwood, Erin, Elora, Aberfoyle, and Belwood, more than 700 young people take part in Scouts Canada programs which are provided by over 270 caring and dedicated volunteers.
