Hi Scouters,
Are you interested in being an ORCKA Basic Canoe Instructor. If so, please come and join us for 2 weekends in June.
June 15, 16 and 17 and 22, 23, and 24. You must arrive on Thursday to set up your camp as class starts at 6:30 am each day and will run till 8 or 9 pm each day.
The skill level required is a Basic Canoe level 4, although this is not mandatory as we can test your paddling skills on the first day of course. The age requirement is 18.
The weekends will cover the CSP level one and 2 and the Basic Canoe Instructor requirements. If you want an extra card and crest for the CSP it will cost you $15.00 for each.
Barry Irish and myself will run the course if enough persons are interested and a suitable central host site is located. If you have a suitable site in the area let me know ASAP.
To keep the cost down the participants are to have their own canoe and equipment and be willing to camp and supply their own food.
Also that we need to meet them on the first Thursday evening after 6pm for the paperwork.
Here is the list of the cost for each participant for the Basic Instructor Course.
4 participants $675.00,5 participants $560.00, 6 participants $500.00, 7 participants $445.00, 8 participants $390.00, 9 participants $365.00 and 10 participants $340.00. This doesn’t include camping fee which I will try to get a group rate.
The two sites I am looking at are Chippewa Conservation Area (Niagara area) and the Valen Conservation Area (north of Hamilton) the later the preferred site.
Please contact me by the end of April if you are interested so that we can determine if there would be enough persons interested in a course.
